He was checking meters and discovered that my meter had a leak. He was very good to explain to me about the dead spot in my grass and why the grass would not grow there. He also explained about the process of repairing it. He checked into the house and the house. He discovered a gas leak on my hot water heater, and he repaired it. His customer service was excellent. He is a great guy!

I paid 765.00 on a friday and they refuse to turn it on any sooner than wednesday, and then the customer service lady says make sure their call is answered it will be an anonymous call and they will not call twice. You will go to the end of the list...

I paid every month yet when I recieved Liep assistance they pretended I had a balance and took more money out of Liep balance. 3 months worth. I complained they lied and in the end said there is nothing you can do because we are the only gas company that can come to your house. She was so rude. I have owned my house for 23 years and have an account with Kansas gas service and have already made payments to them. For the last 18 years, I have rented my house to tenants. My last tenant moved out at the end of September 2018 and my house has now been vacant for three months. On January 1st , my property management company rep called me to tell me that the gas had been shut off. Since the KGS customer service department was closed on Jan 1st, I called the emergency line. Fortunately, I spoke with a very gracious agent named Derrick (?) who researched the issue for over 45 minutes. He said that someone whose name I didn't recognize had called in and had the gas service shut off. He asked me if I knew Betty Robinson or Harriett Lewis; both are persons I don't know. I explained to him that the weather was 20 degrees outside and if the gas was not turned back on my water pipes were going to freeze and explode. He spoke to a supervisor who authorized him to turn the gas back on. In a few hours, a technician went to my property and turned on the gas. My complaint is that I was never informed that KGS was going to turn off the gas. After my tenant called in and told them to take his name off the bill, they just did nothing. They know my name, address, phone number and e-mail address and did nothing to inform me before shutting off the gas. I called customer service January 2nd and spoke for 30 minutes with a representative and another 15 minutes with a supervisor named Iris. Iris made several statements that I have a hard time believing. She said that they do not owe it to anyone to send them a shut off notice and that if a tenant moves out of a property they simply stop billing the tenant but do not commence billing the property owner. They simply continue sending gas to the property until they reach a quantity limit and then shut off the gas with no warning. No letter by mail, no phone call, no email, no warning on the front door-nothing! In conclusion, I have filed a complaint with the Kansas Corporation Commission regarding this incident and am awaiting an answer. This is not acceptable. Kansas Gas Service needs to be pro-active, not re-active. They DO owe their customers the courtesy of informing tenants and/or property owners of possible service shut-off beforehand. The KGS supervisor "Iris" and the other representative need to be more concerned about the potential negative results of their actions.

I've tried to get my service turned on 6 times, now. The first few times, They said their technician called me even though I never received any of those "calls." The third time, I figured out that someone had put my phone number in wrong.

The time after that, I never received the calls again. Its like they're intentionally screwing with me. I had just set up yet ANOTHER appointment with my father phone number since mine is currently shut off and even HE did not receive a phone call. When I just called the company I was told a technician showed up at my door at 8:37 am and left a note on my door that I had missed the appointment.

Wrong. There was NO note on either my back door nor my front door. So I called one last time to make them reschedule for same day set up since I just got out of the hospital I told them it was a MEDICAL EMERGENCY, and now I'm waiting to see if anyone even shows up. I've never had SUCH A HUGE PROBLEM with a Utility company before in my LIFE.

They're either not trying at all or are so stupid that they can't find the correct house.

Too bad this company is a MONOPOLY and is the ONLY gas company in Kansas, because I would have switched services a LONG *** TIME AGO. Kansas Gas Service is Trash.

Gas got shut off due to confusion. There was no warning of the shuttoff the money was paid to them etc. It is now 3 days without gas and its not even the weekend! They told me they would be here yesterday and when i finnally called again they said no a service will not be available till tommorrow. Here i am waiting again. I called and asked if somebody is going to come ever they said its supposedly scheduled so we will see.....

Turning on gas

Gas got shut off thursday paid on friday morning. They refuse to turn it on till monday saying they do not do same day turn on. Guess my kids will just have to starve all weekend and we will not get to shower! Terrible service!

A couple of easy ways to make hot water. Coffee pot.

BBQ /grill. It’s understandable to be upset but take this opportunity to have some fun with the kids. Some of my best memories growing up was when our gas got turned off and we had to find different ways to do housework with no hot water. Go to a thrift store.

You can buy ELECTRIC kitchen appliances. Normally pretty cheap. These can help now and in the future. I keep a electric griddle, a electric boiler.

And a electric burner. I would also suggest that when you get a few bucks to spare that you pick up a inverter for your car. This allows you to use your vehicle to power standard plug in appliances such as a electric boiler. It can make the difference from suffering in misery and screaming children to a pleasant night “roughing it”.

The inverter is a little pricey.

Mine cost me $70. Get a good one and you will never regret it.

Gas was shut off on Thursday (yesterday). I immediately called and made a significant payment. Called in the confirmation number. "Appointment" scheduled for friday between 8am - 8pm. (That's RIDICULOUS btw. ) Customer service told me specifically to look for "restricted" or "blocked" number and be sure to answer it. Watched my phone all day. Finally ar 7:33pm, called to see if they were still.coming. "oh yes. We've had a lot of emergencies. Sorry for the delay. We will still be there." Nobody came. Call dispatch at 11:00pm. "Sorry. They cant come until monday. Looks like a tech called you but you didnt answer." "Ive watched my phone ALL day, prepared to.run home when needed. No.blocked calls ever showed up. And no messages. So now you are telling me I am plum out of luck until monday???" " yes, I understand. Sorry ma'am. Nothing I can do." That's just a large load of CRAP. Don't say you're sorry. That's a slap in the face!! DO BETTER. This is unbelievably unacceptable. Customers should not be put through the ringer and made to suffer because this company cant get it together enough to have service calls on weekends. Are you kidding me?! It's a service to keep homes running. Do our homes take a break on the weekends??? Uhhh, no. Neither should this service. Very obvious they don't value the actual PEOPLE who rely on them.

Same thing happened to me. I paid over $500 on Thursday.

Called on Friday and they said they can't show up until sometime Monday. Even the cable company works on weekends!!

They show up after 6 PM Monday and tell me there's a small leak somewhere, they can't find it, and they won't turn it back on. 4 days without a shower, stove, washing dishes, or heat for me and a 24 month old.

Shut off the gas with no notice and never called. We were one day late on the payment. Now we are being told they want to come in the house to turn it back on and that we need to stay by the phone for two days because of we don’t answer they won’t turn it back on. We simply overlooked the due date, we didn’t murder someone. Ridiculous! We have decided to go all electric, because clearly this company has a monopoly on the gas service in the area and are not trustworthy. We also plan to encourage others in our area to do the same. It’s surprisingly easy to do and much less expensive.

Angry hard working citizen

My wife is temporarily disabled. Lost her job, vehicle, etc. I work 40+ hours a week. I have a 2 year old daughter at home. Sometimes bills are hard to pay. Especially right now. They turned my gas off today. I have no way to bathe it feed my family. My stove and hot water heater are both ran on gas. Thanks slot.

Talked to someone who took a payment and said she would transfer me to customer service. Then I was transferred to Texas Gas Service- I live in KS. They are unwilling to work with anyone on getting gas turned on. They admit they can't up and leave their job but expect you to. Refuse to work around your schedule and even argued with me about whether or not my gas was shut off. How are utilities allowed to have monopolies?!? As a customer, you should have a choice but because you don't, they can do whatever they want. I now have no hot water until tomorrow sometime between 8am and 8pm and I am expected to just pick up and leave work to meet someone.

I have called several times for weeks to get our gas service meter started. We called Dec 1st and it is now Christmas Eve and we still do not have service. I have 3 young children and they simply do not care that we have no heat or stove for Christmas. When they finally came out after an emergency call to get them off their lazy behinds, they left saying there was a leak and they couldnt turn it on. They left plumbing parts and a wrench and said we have to go. Bye. Okay what am I suppose to do with that? It is 38 degrees in our house and my entire family is sick. We are freezing, and have been all month. These people are not human.

I'm not one to complain until I've been burned over and over and over. For starters, Kansas Gas's website is horrible. Payment reflection within the site is sporadic. It currently shows my last payment was two months ago even though I've paid November and December's bills early and my account is current. I've also had my gas service shut off twice when they meant to cut off our neighbor's line. Seriously!? Secondly, customer service is awful, unorganized ,and almost seemingly unhelpful. If there were ANY other options, I'd go there in a heartbeat. Unfortunately this is a monopoly setup and they know that, therefore the service, prices, and communication are disorganized and the worst I've ever experienced.
